Fascia boards are boards that are attached to the end of the rafters/truss at the eaves, where the guttering is attached for the roof rainwater drainage. Fascia boards are also placed at the ends of gable roofs to cover the rafters/truss.

Firstly, the wooden fascia, soffit and guttering is old, rotting, and beyond repair. In this case you must remove the old and replace with uPVC.

Alternatively you may want the fascias replaced due to the need for maintenance, as once replaced with uPVC fascia boards there is no need for future painting.
